Hi, I’m Sarah—a journalist, editor, bestselling author, & actor.
About
Hi there, I’m Sarah. Thanks for stopping by.
A former editor at Atlas Obscura, I’ve written for The New York Times, National Geographic, Smithsonian, WIRED, Gizmodo, Culture Trip (where I also worked part-time), Mental Floss, the AV Club, among others. Throughout my career, I’ve crossed verticals to cover travel, history, science, wellness, culture, and art, turning around high-quality, reported features as both an editor and writer.
I’m also the author of the bestselling book The Beginner’s Guide to Alchemy, published by Callisto and Rockridge Press in May 2020, which has been translated into multiple languages and has sold over a million copies.
As an actor, I play the lead role of Riley Brennan in the upcoming horror thriller Shelby Oaks, to be distributed by NEON (Parasite, Triangle of Sadness, and Apollo 11) in 2025. I’ve worked on Where the Crawdads Sing, produced by Reese Witherspoon’s production company Hello Sunshine; Universal's Renfield opposite Nicolas Cage, Awkwafina, and Nicholas Hoult; Netflix's We Have a Ghost opposite David Harbor; NBC's Chicago PD; Ava Duvernay's Queen Sugar; Boots Riley's I'm A Virgo for Amazon Studios; and Jaume Collet-Serra’s Carry On opposite Taron Egerton; among others.
On stage, I’ve acted in over ten professional shows, including regional premieres of Stupid F***ing Bird, A Doll's House Part 2, and The Wolves.
